Herkimer Diamonds
Herkimer County, near Utica in east-central New York, is rich in "Herkimer diamonds," clear quartz crystals with pyramidal ends that resemble diamonds and that grew in cavities in the dolomite-limestone bedrock.
Sounds like mami nature is doing a little "extreme beading" of her own! How fitting that this was your journal intro.....gosh it reminds me of how MUCH i loved geology in high school!
