This Valentine has David’s name all over it!
Will you be mine?
My Man and I went on a Valentine's date today and walked through Central Park to experience the Christo and Jeanne-Claude installation. The photographs on thier website don't do the Saffron justice, our photos are better! :)

I actually told my Man that Orange is the new Purple today. For years my favorite color has been plummy-purple. Lately I am drawn to all things Orange, or should I say Saffron?
I liked the installation very much. It is a temporary piece that is interactive with the public, making people walk through and under fabric, surrounding themselves in a color that is beautiful. It also plays with elements of the earth. Metal, Air, Earth.
I agree with my Man when he said he would love to see this piece in the snow. Perhaps we should invoke snow within the next two weeks before the installation is dismantled!
Orange and White.
It was amazing to see so many people out, walking, discussing the work. It was pretty cold out today too! I am glad they did it, glad we saw it, walked through and under it, became part of it.
OH those are *definitely* better photos than any i've seen! GLOWING, just so luscious! I"ll never get to see it, living here *way* on the west coast of Canada...:

Posted by: arlee at February 13, 2005 10:02 PMBeautiful and very warming. Your pictures ARE better than any I've seen yet, thanks for posting them.
Posted by: spaazlicious at February 14, 2005 01:29 PMi wish i received a valentine like that! i plan to be in NYC this coming weekend & my sister's apt is right near the park, i'll definitely be wandering over there. christo & jean claude are amazing, i've been lucky enough to meet them, but i've never been to an actual installation!
Posted by: erica at February 14, 2005 07:30 PMWhat a lovely way to finish winter for you. It almost makes it look like autumn again. We are having a mid 30's day today and our students are wilting so I don't think it would go down very well on a steamy Sydney summers day.
Posted by: Robyn at February 14, 2005 11:16 PMI love Christo's work...always have, but this is my favorite! I've always loved orange and what a cool way to apply it. Just gorgeous! Lovely photos!!
Posted by: Mary-Frances Main at February 15, 2005 10:23 AMBuddist orange you could call it, reminds me of munks in Thailand. Very zen of you to like that color! ;-)
Lovely pictures!
Posted by: Hanna at February 15, 2005 10:43 AMI spent some time grubbing about in C&JC's website- www.christojeanneclaude.net/tg.html#preparatoryArt you can see that they hoped for snow too.
Either way, I love it.
