I have been working on this page for a few weeks now. Saturday I drew the Dogwood flowers onto the page and today I painted them in.
I actually had a fabulous day! I got Twyla Tharps' The Creative Habit out of the library and read it for hours on the deck in the sun. I took small breaks to paint outside too. That is where I painted the Dogwood flowers.
I think this page needs a little something, not much but something. Don't know what yet. Something to accentuate the Dogwoood flowers.
We seem to have a resident bird!

You can see the chickadee to the right and above the house in one of the pear tree branches. I put a bunch of silk organza and cotton scraps, threads and some batting in the crook of the tree, to help the birds make nests. All of it is gone. I will be interested to see if it got into the chickadee nest!
That painting is absolutely STUNNING. So beautiful and perfectly reflective of the season.
Posted by: melissa at May 17, 2005 01:04 AMso how's the book. someone has been trying to guilt me into reading it. I have three cats, one of whom is a longhaired mess who should be groomed daily. That would cost me in blood but when I can corner her, I take the fur from the brush and stick it in the crosses on the deck trellis. I have been watching yellow warblers make off with the fur for their nests. I wonder if they know?

Posted by: arlee at May 17, 2005 10:08 AMI hope you can find the nest when the birds are done with it, I bet it would be really pretty. That Twyla Tharp book is great. I made it through half of it and had to take it back to the library, must check it out again. I need to finish that long self quiz thingy, it was really useful.
