Yesterday was my good friend Angela's BirthDAY!!! So I made her a triptych of Hula Fairies! 2.25x3.5 inches. ATC sized. It was great fun to do! This is my first time using velvet... perhaps Jeri's (read further down) piece inspired me? I don't know.
So.

Ever since my blog crashed and I changed servers, my comment numbers have dwindled. I know I have readers but hardly any comments. I am sad...
So very sad.
So in an effort to encourage comments I am giving away this set of hand dyed fat quarters, three in all, one of was also screenprinted. Can I be bold enough to ask 15 separate people to comment? Let's see if I have that many readers!
Come on, I know you want this!
***************************** **********************************
We have a WINNER!
Deb Lacativa! wins
the FAT Quarters
If I get five more commenters I will send the 20th person some scraps from my scrap bin! This is fun! I don't even care if you have commented already!

I've noticed a general slow down not only blogging but in bloggy comments. Is it the time of year, the weather or stars? I don't know.
I just trust that it will work itself out.
Posted by: Debra at July 17, 2006 06:56 PMHey, this is my first visit--love the hula fairies! There's nothing creative on my blog at the moment, but I hope to change that soon! But do visit my blog if you'd like to see the photos my daughter took when we attended the American Idol concert recently!

Um,,,offering prizes to commentors definitely could change the flavor of blogging :)
I'll have to see what I have that I'm willing to part with :)
Posted by: Karoda at July 15, 2006 11:15 AMI'll delurk to say hi too. So, um, hi!
Posted by: caro at July 15, 2006 10:36 AMHi Melly, I've been reading :-) I'm just a lazy commenter (trying to reform though!)
I was going to comment, and forgot to do so, about your new female nude piece. It looks wonderful so far and I can't wait to see how it turns out.
Cheers
Claire
Ah, Melanie! You know we love you SO MUCH! You are such a dear soul. And I'm trying not to be sad about your leaving; one door opens and another closes. Or something about that door stuff. Anyway. I love your lady piece, and today one person saw the image right away! She is the first! Yay! It hangs in my studio to remind me of you. So, have fun and keep creating...
Love,
Jeri.
With no chance of winning anything ... I'm commenting ;-)
I love the hula fairies.
Posted by: sophie at July 14, 2006 08:23 PMWell, what a great place to let you know that I will be trekking up the east coast next week. I am getting spooked by the price of gas but I am committed. I'll be in touch once I get to NY.
Posted by: Deb at July 14, 2006 06:41 PMI just found your blog today. Love your cards ! Will be popping by regularly from now on !
Posted by: sueb at July 14, 2006 05:40 PMHi Melanie,
I've been popping onto your blog several times a week ever since I noticed the link on Cathy Kleeman's blog. I love all the images your post. There are so many fabulous pieces and fabrics and people. Your blog is a nice treat in the middle of a workday.
I'm curious -- where are you moving to and why?
Cheers,
Linda ... in Baltimore
I read your blog fairly regularly but don't usually comment. I am not posting to my blog as much as last summer, life seems to take over esp. summer time when life is definately crazier. I do enjoy seeing what work you're doing. Thanks
Posted by: Cathy at July 14, 2006 11:54 AMI found you through the Artful Quilters Webring... cool ATCs... haven't gotten any farther.
Posted by: Kim at July 14, 2006 10:32 AMHi Mel
I Have you on my bloglines and always enjoys your posts. I am not good about commenting. Maybe you could get a counter to see how many people stop by? I know that most never comment. Don't be sad:) Love your tryptich.
According to Bloglines, which is how I stumbled across your blog, you have 28 subscribers through them alone. So, you know you have at least that many reading, even if like me, they are better at lurking and admiring, than commenting.
Posted by: Slynne at July 14, 2006 09:10 AMI wonder if part of the problem is that, since it's summer, people are out doing other things? I follow your blog on a weekly basis, but I've been out weeding my posies for the last month. :)
Posted by: Barb at July 14, 2006 07:37 AMI do read your blog as it is part of my blogroll. I have so many on my list now that I tend to dash through them. It's time to stop and say hello.
Posted by: Mary Ann at July 13, 2006 11:47 PMI DO read your blog, just figure I don't have much to say. Your life sounds so much more interesting than living in rural Mississippi with 3 daughters, a husband, and a dog.
And no one reads my blog - or at least no one comments. My family reads it, I think. (self-pitying whine ended).

Posted by: sher at July 13, 2006 11:10 PMHah! Okay. I'll admit that I've become extremely lazy and don't click through from Bloglines to anyone's blog much anymore, tsk. I did want to get in touch with you though, to find out when you'll be moving; I still have something to send you (it's been so long. . . ), let me know where/when to send it so it'll get to you! Also: I'm trying your steel and vinegar in a bucket trick, just started it yesterday. Whee!
Posted by: jodi at July 13, 2006 10:31 PMOh my goodness! I have been trying to comment for more than a week now - well actually since June 13th yet I keep getting this message that blocks the comment and says "objectionable content". What is objectionable about a message that says ‘you are amazing’ – I don’t know. Do you have an objection to compliments? ?
In any case I am glad I got through and wanted you to know that I have been reading even if I cannot always comment.
hello??
Posted by: kristine at July 13, 2006 10:13 PMHi! I will come out of hiding as a lurker just to let you know that you are an amazing artist. I love the way you create depth in your work with layers. Please write a book! Like Robin, I am not commenting just because you are giving a prize. I am afraid that if I commented on every blog posting, you all on the list would ban me and I would miss being so inspired by you. Don't be sad because no one is posting, they are probably like me and awestruck or shy.
Cheers,
Jeannie
I'll comment! I like the hula faries, and I'm not saying that because you are giving fabric away. They really are unique. I know what you mean about the comments. I receintly stopped blogging and since I restarted, my traffic just hasn't been the same. Oh well.
