Consume, now!

Items we purchased yesterday:
1. Dell Dimension 4600 160GB HD, 512MB DDR SDRAM. No Monitor, Printer, or extras, just the box. Don't you like the lingo? Know what it means? Big, very big.
2. Kenmore Dishwasher, color: bisque.
3. Kenmore Free Range Stove, you have to chase it down in the pasture before being able to cook. It is a very healthy stove, raised without the use of steroids, antibiotics or drugs of any kind.
4. Range Hood; To keep the stove warm and toasty.
As buying in this way is very addictive, I would also like a new sport bra, yoga CD, book by Twyla Tharp and a few new music CD's. I will temper myself though.

The Beast and the boy

almost_beastly.jpg
These will be some of the final photos about the Beast. I am happy to say that it is almost finished! I have two sides of the binding sewn and the end is near.
The quilt rests on grandmothers rocking chair. I remember buying this chair at a flea market with my father. We brought it home, he stipped it and stained it and we gave it to my grandma Testa.
I inherited this chair when my Man and I bought this house. I keep it in my sewing room for fabulously calm moments, like sewing the binding on a bed quilt for my Man and I.
My grandmother kept this chair in her kitchen with a crocheted blanket resting on the back. She rested while cooking in this chair. I remember it in various other places in the two apartments she lived in. She loved rocking chairs.
Nice memories.

And now, about the boy:
Arrow_102004.jpg
Arrow is my boy. We have two cats, Monk and Arrow. Generally Monk prefers David and Arrow prefers me.
Arrow is a sensitive cat. He had IFLUTD which we got under control. He no longer eats dry food, we keep lots of water available, and we have him on the healthiest food he will eat. Arrow has not had a reoccurence in about 5 years, maybe more.
When he originally had health problems they were major. He is our million dollar kitty. He had to be in the Vet's office for more than a week. I visited him often while he was there and he broke my heart when they let him in the room where I would visit him. He skanked over, very low to the ground and quickly settled in my lap. He looked so small and needy.
Today I had to bring him to the vet and I was so nervous about bringing him that I arrived one half hour too early. The whole ride over I kept telling him I would be staying with him and he would be coming home with me. Luckily they were able to take me right then!
Arrow is licking the fur off his belly, front under paws and back elbow nubs. I wanted to make sure he isn't having Hyperthyroid problems. He has been really skittish, he will frantically run into the room and lick intensely. He is also limping. He is not the alpha cat of the house and this behavior could just be nerves, but he is my boy and I love him.
So tomorrow I will know.
here is another photo of him lounging in my arms, belly up. This is the way he likes to hang out with me. He will get into my arms and flip over, resting his head in the crook of my arm and showing his belly. You can see a little bald patch down there.

I Did It and I Am Glad!

CupCake.jpg
I have made a new blogging friend. Her name is Melissa RightMoon? We found each other through Danny Gregory's blog.
We met in person, for real, today. We met up and talked up a storm at Amy's Bread, a great bakery on 9th between 46th and 47th.
Melissa is intelligent, thoughtful, and extremely adventurous and she is a musician to boot. It takes chutzpah to make plans with someone you have met through the World Wide Web, I give us three succulent and juicy, golden, sparkly stars for meeting up close and personal.
So, now.
I think Amy's is really good. They have awesome Cheese Biscuits. As far as I am concerned cheese biscuits or biscuits of any sort, are high on the list of very edible and delicious.
But.
Then, there are Cupcakes from the Cupcake Cafe.
I severely limit my sugar intake as much as humanly possible. No sugar in my coffee, I read labels. Sugar is a treat, and boy were these cupcakes a treat.
I had two.
One chocolate and one vanilla with walnuts (for protein!). If I could do it all over again, I would have eaten the walnut one first because I love chocolate.
This means that I have had three days in a row of high sugar intake. Saturday we celebrated my Dad's birthday with a chocolate mouse cake from 4 and 20 Blackbirds. Nothing to sneeze at, that there bakery. We were given left overs, which we forced ourselves to eat last night.
I am going to have sugar withdrawal tomorrow! MMM-MM-MM.
Apparently Melissa's man is a cupcake afficienado and has created his own rating system. I would love to know more about this...
I am also told that I need to eat cupcakes from Magnolia's, which in comparison, don't look
half as good!
All that aside, I honor the really excited and warm feeling I got when I checked in with my body about meeting Melissa. I hope I am able to hear her sing and that we continue meeting up!
And Melissa? Buy the Gocco.

Heads Up!

Just wanted to let you know that images of my work can be seen on the Norwich Free Acadamy's Slater Museum web site. There is a circuitous route that you can take to see an image of the Madonna.
Click on: The Show-IV (on the left hand side of the screen), then scroll down.
And see a wonky photo of my Virgin Mary of Gaudalupe piece here. Again you will need to scroll to the bottom left of the screen. This is a piece I have not yet put in my gallery pages.
So that is my heads up, I have five pieces in that show.
I am about to update my quilt gallery. This is a major piece of work, but it needs it. Wish me luck!
