All Blissed Out!

bliss!.jpg

It is awesome to get in touch with my Self creatively. I am sure that many of you know what I am talking about. My day job has been dissapating my energy, so getting away and feeding my creative spirit is just what I needed!
I am back from ProChem and my workshop with Jane Dunnewold.
I am still a bit awe struck by Jane. I love her, her spirit and working attitude as an artist is right on. She is my hero and I was able to verbalize that with her, which was awesome.

All of the techniques we used can be learned by buying her book Improvisational Screen Printing, which I already own. I own both her surface design books (the other being Complex Cloth) and highly recommend both.

I bonded with some awesome women over the week. We went to Horseneck Beach, which could have easily been mistaken for Egypt.

It will be an adventure to see how this forray into Screen Printing will affect my artistic process and thoughts. It is awesome that this workshop occurred at the end of June because I will have the summer in my cool basement studio to play with and incorporate what I have learned.
YEAH!!!

What the heck!

Road_Trip.jpg

I had a great entry up here... and I did something... and it is gone.
I am going on a road trip to Prochem to take a workshop by Jane Dunnewold. I am about to jump in my car and go. No time to make links and repair the oddness. So Sad.

Here is a box of my own hand made stamps. I am taking the Experimental Screen Printing class I have been excited about for about 6 months, but empty screens are boring to photograph. I am supposed to bring my stamps though!

Back Tackers RULE!

back-tacker loot.jpg

My first BACK TACKer sent me my loot! Some very exciting stuff! Three zippers, one of which is a neat knitted tape that I have never seen before, some buttons-including a great two colored (red and purple- my favorite colors) button that I am going to pin onto my denim jacket, fabric and ribbon.
Purple being one of my favorite colors made it even easier to love opening this package! I got my loot on saturday and my final BACK TAcKers purse/notions/thingie is complete! All I need to do is mail it out! It feels so good to be ahead of the curve! It is cute too. We will have to wait until the end of the month to see what everyone has done for thier fellow BACK TACKers.

This is a cell phone photo of me after a fun day in Manhattan. This was the weekend that My mom, dad, Man and I went to Manhattan to celebrate my mothers birthday. We shopped for yarn - mom bought, not me. I have to say she bought a 30.00 skien of silk! Yummy to touch! She is worth every penny.
I always talk fondly of shopping at Fairway Market and as my mom and dad are foodies, we checked it out as a family! It made me very happy to see my father (who has lost about 8 or 9 pounds recently) checking out the variety of fresh foods available to those swanky New Yorkers. I know he was wishing the quality could be found in his local markets.
We spent some quality time in Central Park, watched people and puppies and relaxed. Then we ate at Joe G's before heading back to the train where the above photo was taken. I do look whupped but happy.
Mom liked Cameron's portrait too.

Pictures of Our Baby!

bird_baby.jpg

Last year when we mounted the birdhouse, I have to say I was worried. Worried that I would fall in love with the concept of housing a bird, and never get a taker. When we put bird feeders in the back yard, I worried that the feeders would be too close to the house and no bird would be able to fend for territory under such hectic circumstances.
When it was time for a bird to move in I watched the house intently. I was standing at the sink one morning when I saw a House Sparrow enter the house with a twig in his mouth. I practically lost my breakfast in my excitement. I definitely made myself late for work because I had to call My Man and tell him the news.
Each day I watched with great enthusiasm and laughed to see Papa bird defend his house against a curious squirrel. The squirrel ran up the pole and got just below the mounting device when papa bird whizzed out of the house and dive bombed Ms. Squirrlipants twice before returning to his quaint little abode.
Papa bird does not like when Bright Red Cardinal sits atop his house but bird hierarchy prevents him from doing anything but squawking at this offender.
So yesterday morning I took a folding chair out to the back yard and while listening to the papa bird yell at me, fully expecting him to dive bomb and peck my awful-strange-why-are-you-doing-this-human-head, I took a photo. The babies are going to move out soon!
Isn't she beautiful?
