It is super difficult to photograph these things! These are Matchstick Mary's in a bottle cap altar. Two part epoxy encases the little gal. She is surrounded by beads, has a halo of either beads or puff paint spikes and will soon have a stand made of Fimo.

I made 4 and tried another type without the fancy Mary-just an image with beads, threads and glitter.
I perfer the Matchstick Mary's. They play into my love of religious iconology, they are tiny and fiddly to make and hey! Who doesn't love a thing encased in plastic? Glitter? Puff paint? Come on.

Yesterday, snow and all, I decided to make bread. This time, no refridgeration, I made the poolish Sunday morning, made the dough in the evening, baked it off this morning. Nice crumb, huh?
I used three cups white wheat flour, two all purpose white. It made five loaves, So I gave two away, froze one and kept two out.
I might try making french toast in the morning.

David has safely gone to Brooklyn. Text messages fly back and forth, video cam shots, pix. I have no idea what the building he now lives in looks like. I do know that when I wake half way though the night for the necessaries, the house is very quiet. I don't hear his breath.
it has only been two nights and this portion of being apart will be short because I am going to go back east on the 19th. But this is the way we will be living for the next few months.
David is the best husband I could ever have chosen for myself. I could have taken photos of the stock pile of groceries that he bought so that if we had 10 inches of snow, I would be well fed. And 4 or 5 fell yesterday. The link above says we will get 8 to 16 inches before this time tomorrow. Let's hope they are wrong.
Instead of taking the photo of the stock pile of canned goods, pasta, soy milk, broth, beans and rice, I took this. A photo of the plastic he put over the windows downstairs to keep the heat inside the house. It looks mottled in the photo but it is really quite clear and I have almost leaned on the sill in an attempt to neighborhood watch several times already. And so the note, in marker, in David's hand writing.
i miss him. he is the best.
I just meandered around...and found this...and I want it. Dang.

This week I taught Monoprint with Soy Wax at Marla Hattabaugh's studio in Phoenix, AZ. We had great fun. This is the first time I taught a class where there was a man in the class. He was a joy and quite ready to learn, as was everyone. I love getting the group photos at the end of the day. When I took this one, I asked everyone to say 'Lactose Intolerance!'
My crazy life is accelerating this week. David has an apartment in New York and is leaving on Friday. I am lucky because this stint will only last 10 days or so. I have tickets and am flying back east for the holidays.
Because of all this and in an effort to really settle right into myself, I have decided to take a weekly Yoga class and to begin to maintain a home yoga practice too. I used to be very good at the home practice part. I want to have the ability to go outside the home too. So I have decided on The Yoga Experience on San Fracisco street in downtown. My muscles need toning.
I plan to take the beginners yoga class on Sunday morning, because I have never taken a yoga class anywhere but in front of the TV, or on a CD.
