Here is a view out my hotel window. I stayed in the Clarion for two nights, one night alone (I took a long hot bath), and one night with Lyric Kinard.
Not a gorgeous view, but hey! we got a coprporate rate.

Here is a pile of my artwork and a beginning to the madness. Organizing for this sort of thing is major.

I wonder how Pokey does it, times 13!! She has projects to do, outfits to manage, she is a dynamo! Here is how she organizes her outfits to each segment.

This is too funny. I had been telling Pokey of a certain Martha Stewart segment where a cook from Patsy's in New York City showed Martha how to make meatballs. Martha was true to her own form and talking about the aeromatic mixture, the cook looks at her and says, 'Yeah, and if you like da garlic, pudt it."

Here is an action shot of us, pudtin' it. Now go check her blog, for a video of it. I love how sweet she was pudtin it.

So here is a photo of the taping room as you enter,

and another from as you would see it as a guest, taping on the show. It gets HOT in there. I taped my DVD, late at night and as I got more tired the sophorific effect of the heat, lights and length of the taping had its toll. Can't wait to see how they edit my bloopers.

Helen is a member of the Quilting Arts team. She was a peach and washed my monoprint/dye/yuck in her pretty pink sweater.

Bernina is a sponsor of this years QATV segments. I spoke with Jeanne, thier National Events Coordinator. She got me working with these two machines. This 440 won #1 in this months the Consumer Reports rating for ten sewing machines. A really solid machine. I liked t alot.

This is the new 830, it is huge, has a fantastic bobbin and feed bed. It has memory and goes really fast. If I were to buy a new machine, I would need a more humble machine, but I really liked this one.
Yum.
It was so much fun!
I met Terry White, Jamie Fingal, Alisa Burke (whom I wish I had some time to get to know), Jay McCarroll's, Catherine Nicholls. I am sure I have forgotten someone and I mean no offense by it!

Damn is it nerve wracking to pack for this sort of thing!! If this bag goes missing, I am Screwed! But it won't.
I don't know how ready I am. But! Life marches on.
Some eye candy...

I love these circles and colors...

And lines...

Moving is starting to feel real so I figured I would show some photos of our new apartment. This is the 'dining room with high ceilings and stamped tin. These windows overlook small backyards that won't be accessible to us, but have trees and city birds and feral cats too. This is a south facing room. Good sunlight here.

This photo looks into the livingroom and bedroom. I didn't take a photo of the 'bonus room'. The porportions are too wonky to get a viable photo. But off the bedroom is a small room that I will call my sewing room. It is adorable and has a huge window. There are 6 windows in all in our apartment.

This is the newly refurbished kitchen. It is a one person kitchen, it is tiny. But very pretty with new cabinets, granite countertops, brand new gas stove.

My QATV samples are almost complete. I am going to be taping a Quilting Arts Workshop DVD too! So all of this has been a heck of a thing to get prepared for. But it is mostly complete.
When I return, David will be with me and we will start packing, my brother will come and he and I will drive back. Have I mentioned how excited I am to be traveling cross country with my brother? I know it will be mostly driving, but. I love him and will have exclusive time with him.
We will make time to take him to the Grand Canyon while he is here. You can't come to Arizona and not see that!

I just came back from my trip back east, it was a whirlwind of activity, fun and exploration. The drawing above comes from Tea Lounge , a licenced coffee house, in Brooklyn.
We have an apartment in Carroll Gardens. The neighborhood is old world, cheese store, fish stores, independant bookstore and cinema. I am wrapping my mind around moving away from my quite mountain top cabin and moving to my city apartment, but it finally seems like it could be fun, so I am doing well on that account, finally.
I am getting ready to tape 2 more QATV segments and a DVD workshop. So my studio is abustle. 9 days to get ready for that and when I return, David will return on the same day, we begin to move.
My brother will fly out and help me drive back. This is a blessing and I am very excited to hang with him for so long!
