Sewing Away (in Margaritaville)

Alright, I started embroidering the lace and I like what is happening. I especially like the red on the 'tape' in the upper left. I think I will continue doing that for sure. I am not so sure about the dark green on the vines, but I am not ripping it, the velvet would not like being ripped and is too fragile.

Now, I like the rose but feel its leaves need some oomph. And perhaps the rose needs a definite stem, which it doesn't have.

Cheryl, I will sew the snaps on soon, but I do think the lace will look lovely tucked behind the ties, or straps, I don't really know what to call them.

And here is a message from the World of the City.

Love what you've done with the lace, including the green on the vine, it's integrating it beautifully.

the lace is becoming a part of the background. looks great.

gold metallic thread....

I love what is happening here!

Ooh, la la! Very special stuff going on!

Oh yes, this is definitely working for me. It has a kind of Middle Eastern textile feel.

Painterly embroidery on the vine - I always go back in and add a little darker or complimentary value to a pale thread. Just a little will make all the difference in the world. Perhaps some fabric bits in the leaves? I love the rose and now the lace is reminding me of a rose on a trellis or behind a rod iron fence. The lace embroidery is gorgeous! I love the camera around the babe and its face is so cute. Have a great day!

Did you know that Jimmy Buffet's birthday was Christmas Day?

I love how this is developing. Yes, Jeannie, it does remind one of a garden trellis.

All the best for 2012. I have taken Jude's Beast workshop and enjoyed it v. much. I made a Rare Bird - not really fond of birds you may remember.
I was given a v. grand wood burning tool for Xmas - actually regifted by my son who decided he would not use it. My good luck.
By the way, I wonder if you have used Ink Tense Crayons on fabric, which with the addition of a textile medium would allow you to draw birds to your hearts content.

I love this! Awesome.

I love this! Awesome.

I think the colouring of the lace is really enhancing the rose, rather than hiding it as was suggested. I think a little more embroidery around the leaves and stem to tie it together with the lace and it will look gorgeous.

love the idea of embroidering over existing lace. Def will use this idea once I begin stitching again since I've been struggling to come up with good ideas for these old linen and lace pieces I picked up cheap at a rummage sale. Thank you for the inspiration, once again!

love this! embroidery over the lace, integrating it, but leaving some of the lace as is...adore it! gonna do it too!
