Happy NEW Year.

This is my first 'working day' of the new year. My Man was home for the week between Christmas and New Years, including yesterday. I love being able to spend extended periods of time with my guy.

I had wanted to do a post about the change of the year and all that entails but I can't. Last year is a blur. I feel as though I didn't have much of a year and I feel like I had a very full year where I learned a lot and did as much. What I can say is that last year taught me that I have more friends and acquaintances than I could have known. I am grateful and happy to know this and to have you in my life. So many people followed me through my journey with cancer, commented, followed me through facebook and commented, sent me cards, gifts, hats, good vibes and thoughts. I made it through with panache and incredible support. All I can really say is, 'Thank You'. And here is to a happier, easier and less doctor-centric New Year!

I started painting again today. I am going to put the wrap down for a few days and allow myself some creative breathing room.

Happy New Year!!! At first I thought that was a piece of vintage fabric. The softness of the colors fooled me. I do love the paintings. How is Arrow? xoxo

Melly...I love the way that the lace is becoming integrated with the velvet...as you are adding colors and stitch everything is connecting, complementing shape, color and form...the result of the addition of the lace is a new, wonderful, vibrant and alive piece of cloth! Your work is encouraging me to play more with the saving of the lovely deep pink/mauve velvet jacket with burn out on the sleeves...the damaged area is testy but one of these days soon it will look good enough to photo!
Thank you for your example of extreme creativity in the up-cycling of garments!

My husband was home for a week too but he went back yesterday. It is nice to have them around.
Sometimes I get a burst of creativity when I switch to a new project, which is why I do it far too often.
The painting looks intriguing.

happy new year. i hope it is amazing

Hi! Melanie,

I love your painting, the colours are soft and subtle and draw you in. Good to have a creative breather sometimes, when we get enthused and rapt in something it can often take our breath away if we try to push on. like everything in life the wrap has a place to fit in.

Have a great new year, I'm so pleased to have found your blog, it's always inspiring.
